Elesa S.p.A. (the parent company of the Elesa Group) presents its 2024 Sustainability Report, the first document to systematically and transparently consolidate the ESG performance of its Monza Headquarters. This milestone represents a natural evolution for a family-owned company that for over eighty years has built its development on technological innovation, design and quality excellence, and a strong focus on people and the local community.
The preparation of the first Sustainability Report reflects the company’s commitment to integrating ESG topics into decision-making and production processes, through an approach proportionate to its size yet oriented towards advanced reporting standards. The Report presents concrete results that outline the profile of a solid and competitive company, increasingly aware of its role within the global industrial supply chain.
A measurable environmental commitment
In 2024, Elesa continued to strengthen its energy efficiency policies and consumption optimization initiatives:
100% of the energy used is purchased from renewable sources (a commitment in place since 2020).
93.6% of waste is sent for recovery (including thermal recovery).
Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions amount to 968 tCO₂eq (market-based), supported by advanced internal monitoring systems and a total energy consumption of 22,550 GJ.
Materials and waste management follow principles of circularity and waste prevention: 2,410 tonnes of materials were used and 373.5 tonnes of waste generated, of which 93.6% was directed to thermal or material recovery processes.
At the same time, the evolution of the automated Logistics Centre in Monza introduced greater process efficiency, reducing unnecessary handling, improving shipment punctuality to 99.7%, achieving exceptional same-day delivery performance, and contributing to more rational resource management - confirming the value of the technological investments made in previous years.
People as a driver of growth
With 366 workers, 50% of whom are female, and 6,318 hours of training delivered in 2024, Elesa S.p.A. confirms the central role of human capital in its growth strategy. The company relies on a balanced mix of young talent and experienced professionals, ensuring a dynamic and innovative approach to business challenges.
Health, safety and organizational well-being initiatives were further strengthened through structured programmes and targeted interventions in work environments, particularly in production and logistics areas, where workstation automation has ensured more ergonomic and safer operating conditions.
Specific training programmes and preventive measures were introduced, including a welfare system with supplementary healthcare and a dedicated welfare portal to support employees’ physical and mental well-being. The company also guarantees access to dedicated healthcare services, either directly in the workplace or through insurance policies that provide coverage for medical needs and allow employees to access specialist care and healthcare services under favorable conditions.
These results reflect a deeply rooted cultural model that prioritizes listening, shared responsibility and the enhancement of skills as key tools for addressing the challenges of the global market.
A future oriented governance model
The report highlights a solid economic performance:
In 2024, Elesa S.p.A. generated €80.3 million in economic value, of which €70.6 million was redistributed to stakeholders, representing 88% of the total. Investments in assets amounted to €7.9 million, underscoring a long-term vision.
The supply chain remains strongly rooted in the local territory: 87% of suppliers are based in Italy, contributing to high standards of quality, timeliness and control over production processes.
Governance is based on a robust organizational structure aligned with principles of transparency, responsibility and legality, as set out in the Italian Legislative Decree 231 compliance model and the Code of Ethics. The company adopts a structured approach that promotes integrity in business operations and responsible management, with the aim of maintaining high levels of trust among stakeholders. Elesa invests in specific training programmes to raise awareness among all employees about the importance of regulatory compliance and ethical principles.
The company is actively engaged in CSR initiatives aimed at fostering workplace inclusion and social well-being, supporting projects such as Elesa Academy for the development of young talent, and collaborating with third-sector organizations including LILT (Italian League Against Cancer), Vidas, Fondazione AIRC for cancer research, Fondazione Opera San Francesco per i Poveri, and Médecins Sans Frontières.
Elesa also supports educational and cultural development and promotes youth innovation through scholarships at ITIS Hensemberger in Monza, artistic sponsorships, guided tours at its headquarters and factory for students, and innovative projects in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano and the University of Bologna. Among its many cultural initiatives, Elesa S.p.A. also supports the Fondazione della Comunità di Monza e Brianza, the Museo del Marchio Italiano, the Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro Sinfonico di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, and the Rina Sala Gallo International Piano Competition.
“This Sustainability Report represents an important moment in our history: it tells the story of a genuine commitment built on investments, responsibility and vision. We strongly believe in the value of the long term: growth is not possible without continuous attention to people, processes and the environment in which we operate. The results we present today are the outcome of the daily work of our employees and represent only the beginning of a journey that we intend to pursue with determination and transparency”. commented Carlo Bertani, Managing Director & Board Member of Elesa S.p.A.
