Elesa integrates its new Gigafactory: doors open to employees, families and institutions

Elesa inaugurated its new Gigafactory in Monza with a special event bringing together employees and their families, alongside the professionals and construction partners who contributed to the project. Known as “Gigaday”, the event marked a significant industrial milestone for the company, while also recognising the contribution of the people whose commitment and expertise continue to drive Elesa’s growth and development.

The inauguration ceremony brought together Elesa Managing Director and Board Member Carlo Bertani, the Executive and Board Member Andrea Bertani, and President Alberto Bertani, alongside representatives of the local institutions that supported the company throughout the development of the project. Among those attending were Paolo Pilotto, Mayor of Monza, and Luca Santambrogio, President of the Province of Monza and Brianza. The event was also attended by Marco Lamperti, Carlo Abbà, Egidio Riva and Andreina Fumagalli, Councillors of the Municipality of Monza, and Matteo Parravicini, President of the local representative of the Italian Industry Association in Monza and Brianza.

Elesa is strengthening its production capacity with its new Gigafactory, a facility created through the expansion of its existing industrial site. This investment is designed to enhance the Group’s competitiveness, meet global demand for components that meet high standards of quality and performance, and further strengthen the company’s ties with the community where it was founded and has grown. The project, supported by a total investment of €39 million (€34 million allocated to the building and high-tech systems, and a further €5 million to the implementation of specialised, innovative automation), transforms Elesa’s headquarters with new production areas, offices and green spaces designed to combine innovation, operational efficiency, sustainability and a high-quality working environment.

The Gigafactory introduces an innovative and flexible production model, where advanced automation and digital technologies improve coordination across operations and increase process efficiency. The layout has also been designed to accommodate changes in production and volumes over time, giving Elesa the flexibility to respond more quickly to evolving market and customer needs.

The project places sustainability and people’s wellbeing at the heart of its design. Natural light, cooling systems in the production areas, green spaces and dedicated social areas help create a more comfortable and welcoming working environment, while automating repetitive tasks allows employees to make better use of their skills and focus on higher-value activities. From an environmental perspective, the facility has achieved the Energy Efficiency Class A4 (the highest rating on the Italian scale from G to A4) and incorporates solutions for heat recovery, cooling, dehumidification and improved energy efficiency.
